Malibu of the Midwest Surfboards
Exploring what it means to live in the "Malibu of the Midwest" OWLS founder Craig Grabhorn worked with teachers, and students of South High School exploring design process, and product design while crafting surf boards.
A classroom was turned into a form shaping, and fiberglassing space to explore ideas and create six surfboards. Students learned about shape values, material usage, graphic approaches, methods to shape, fiberglass and craft surfboards.
When the boards were completed we visited Sheboygan’s North Beach to try them out. A day of sun and fun!
Special thanks to Kohler Foundation, Green Light Surf Supply, Torginol, and Sherwin Williams for supporting this project.
